Friday Night at the Movies: A Civil Rights Journey – SelmaHost: First Unitarian Society of Denver

We will be showing three gripping movies about Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma that showcase the cataclysmic events of 1865 to 1965 in the struggle for civil rights. After each movie, some travelers from the Civil Rights Tour of the South will lead a short discussion, exploring our personal experiences related to these cities and examining how those experiences relate to current struggles for rights within our democracy.

Attend one, two, or all three movies! We’ll supply free popcorn and drinks!
Friday, August 9th – Slavery by Another Name
Friday, August 16th – Freedom Riders – Could You Get on the Bus?
Friday, August 23th – Selma

All members and friends of First Unitarian are welcome. Youth age 12 and above are invited to attend with a parent or with a parent’s agreement.

This evening is FREE. However, if you plan to attend, PLEASE let us know at coffee hour or email Helen Berkman so we know how many to expect.

We hope you will join us at one or all three of these amazing films!
