2024 A Year of Recommitment

2024 A Year of Recommitment

Dear Racial Justice Accomplices and Allies,

I want to thank you for your commitment, hard work, and reflection of our ministry together of rooting out racial bias within our UU communities as well as your support in creating a sanctuary space for our BIPoC UU siblings through the ministry of The Mountain Top UU.

In 2023 with your financial and spiritual support UURJ and The Mountain Top UU have continued to flourish. We have held meetings with our religious professionals, community leaders, congregational members, called together over 150 UUs to celebrate Pride in Denver and Colorado Springs, celebrated our 3rd anniversary with our 1st multiplatform full community gathering and have hosted the 1st two of our now regular joint third Sunday evening offerings with The Mountain Top UU and SepulvedaUU in SoCal.

We are looking forward to a 2024 that is filled with even more opportunities to gather as a community of accomplices and allies to do the internal work both personally and communally in congregations of addressing racial bias as well as developing discussion and spiritual spaces to host dialogue with our BIPoC siblings where we can do the healing work of reconciliation to repair the harm that we as UU’s have committed in the past and continue to leave unaddressed in our congregations today.

As we embark on 2024, I want to invite you to take a few moments to reflect on how you can recommit yourself to do this difficult work and incredibly important of addressing racial bias within our congregations and communities.

Some ways to do this:

  • Attend our community gatherings on the third Sunday evening of each month and on the 4th Wednesday of the month.
  • Make a financial commitment to support the programs and ministry of UURJ and The Mountain Top UU
  • Encourage your congregation to make or increase their financial commitment to support the ministerial fund to support our professional team.

I hope you know none of this would have been possible without you and your support and you all enter the new year with a strong drive to be happy, be kind, and champion those causes you feel passionate about.
