Change is in the Air

Beloveds,

We are reimagining how we come together by offering new opportunities for gathering, deepening relationships, and co-creating a spiritual home that truly reflects who we are and what we need. These changes will bring more spaces for shared worship, conversation, learning, and celebration, centering the richness of our diverse experiences.

Over the past months, your TMT Leadership has been deeply listening to your needs, your hopes, and your longings for The Mountain Top to be a place of even greater connection, support, and spiritual nourishment as well as your needs to an ever changing world including “Sunday Burnout” after full days in your local congregations and many other competing factors with Sunday evenings. We recognize the call for more opportunities to gather, to build relationships, and to strengthen our bonds as a BIPOC Unitarian Universalist community.

One of the things we pride ourselves with at The Mountain Top is that we are a living-breathing community open to change and adjust with your needs, hopes, and longings. In response to all of this, we are making a significant shift in our offerings and programming beginning in April in order to provide you with more varied times to gather with us on the 1st & 3rd Sundays and 2nd & 4th Wednesdays. Based on your response additional changes may be coming in the very near future.

As of April 1st: We will be sunsetting the 2nd Sunday Community Celebration and replacing it with Covenanting Conversations with more in-depth conversations about our lives, loves, and losses on the 2nd Wednesday, and moving the 4th Sunday Community Gathering to the 1st Sunday of the month. Additionally, if you are interested in leadership at The Mountain Top or Racial Justice conversations within the context of congregational life, you can join us on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.

See below for more information and our new monthly schedule, but know this: You are at the heart of this transformation. This is your community, and together, we will shape its future.

As always if you are in need of Pastoral Care, please reach out to me or our Spiritual Care Team (Chaplains) or 720-336-0910 x4. We are here to be a mountain of support!

If you have any questions about our new schedule, please let me know.

With love and in faith,

AJ

Sundays

1st Sunday TMT Community Gathering – ZOOM (Community Building)
BIPOC AND FAMILY SPACE
(5pm PT / 6pm MT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET)

Begin the month grounded in the strength of community. Our First Sunday Community Gathering is a space for BIPOC UUs and our families to come together, share, and connect. We will host an extended check-in and intentional conversation as we create a sacred space to honor our experiences, uplift one another, and center joy, resilience, and collective wisdom. Whether you come to listen, share, or simply be in community, you are welcome here.

3rd Sunday TMT/UURJ Community Celebration – Multiplatform on ZOOM & InPerson (Spiritual Deepening)
ALL WELCOME
(5pm PT / 6pm MT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET)
InPerson: Sepulveda UU Society: Los Angeles, CA
InPerson: First Universalist Church of Denver: Denver, CO

Join us for our Third Sunday Community Celebration, a time to be spiritually rejuvenated and renewed in the midst of the month led by Rev Gordon Clay Bailey and Pastor AJ Blackwood. Our Sunday Celebration will offer BIPOC centered and led inspiration, reflection, and a deep sense of connection. Through music, word, and shared wisdom, we will gather to nourish our spirits and strengthen our commitment to racial justice and collective liberation.

Following the service, all are invited to stay for The Mountain Top UU and UUs for Racial Justice caucus conversations, providing space for deeper dialogue, shared learning, and community building. Come as you are—your voice, your presence, and your spirit are needed and welcome.

Wednesdays

2nd Wednesday TMT Vision & Values – ZOOM Leadership
BIPOC ONLY SPACE
(12pm PT / 1pm MT / 2pm CT / 3pm ET)

What do you dream for The Mountain Top? How can our community continue to grow, thrive, and meet the needs of BIPOC UUs?

Join us as we re-envision the future of The Mountain Top—a community shaped by our collective wisdom, values, and aspirations. Whether you come just once to share your thoughts and dreams or choose to become a part of our Vision & Values Team to help sustain the life of our community, your voice matters. All BIPOC siblings are welcome. Let’s build together!

2nd Wednesday TMT Covenanting Conversations – ZOOM Community Building
BIPOC ONLY SPACE
(4pm PT / 5pm MT / 6pm CT / 7pm ET)
(6pm PT / 7pm MT / 8pm CT / 9pm ET)

Join us for Covenanting Conversations, a sacred space where we come together as BIPOC UUs to nurture connection, healing, and collective wisdom. Each month, we co-create a time of music, an extended check-in, meditation, and deep discussion, grounding ourselves in the values that sustain us.
Come as you are—bring your joys, struggles, hopes, and questions. Whether you seek reflection, community, or simply a moment of peace, this is a space where your story is shared and cherished.
We are offering this space twice on the same evening so that you can join us at the time that best works for you!

4th Wednesday UURJ Antiracist Leadership for Religious Professionals – ZOOM (Antiracism)
TMT LEADERSHIP & RELIGIOUS PROFESSIONALS
(12pm PT / 1pm MT / 2pm CT / 3pm ET)

Join us for a conversation of accountability about creating antiracist ministerial, work and community environments. Together, we will explore strategies to actively confront racial biases and foster inclusive, equitable spaces in our workplaces and ministries, especially when it comes to hiring, staffing, or volunteer leadership. Through meaningful dialogue and shared experiences, we aim to cultivate environments rooted in racial justice, understanding, and solidarity by taking actionable steps toward dismantling racism and building a stronger, more inclusive community for all.

4th Wednesday UURJ Race & Congregational Life – ZOOM (Racial Justice)
ALL WELCOME WHO ARE INTERESTED IN RACIAL JUSTICE
(5pm PT / 6pm MT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET)

Join us as we come together to explore, discuss, and take action on issues of racial justice within our UU congregations. Rooted in the UU commitment to equity and compassion, this meeting offers a space for reflection, education, and community-driven solutions for creating a more inclusive community and congregation. Unfortunately, there is no way to completely eradicate racism in our congregational spaces, therefore we will spend our time exploring how to limit racial biases and harm created by racism in our communities.
