Black August commemorates the lives of Black political prisoners and calls for our work to center the radical actions of the incarcerated. Antoinette will connect our current work of abolition to the Black August Movement and ask what UUs can do in this moment.
What to bring with you:
- An Open Heart
- Your favorite dish to share if you can
- Breathing Buddy: A small plush animal or toy to hold during our centering and grounding practice. This will help us pause, go within, and breathe together. (If you don’t have one, some will be available for in-person friends.).
About Our Speaker: Antoinette Hollamon
Antoinette Hollamon (they/them/theirs) is a justice consultant, author, and organizer living in Los Angeles. They speak publicly on social justice, racial equity, and literary activism, all rooted in their Unitarian Universalist faith. Antoinette is a Certified Spiritual Director and has been trained in Movement Chaplaincy work.
They lead monthly gatherings, Care for Activists in Liberation Movements (CALM), to center the support needs of activists and front-line workers. This healing space provides music, guided meditations, and a short reflection.
They are currently on staff at the UU Women’s Federation and the UU Justice Ministry of California. They also serve as the Commissioned Lay Minister for the First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles and a member of the Commission on Social Witness Committee at the UUA.

Following the service, all are invited to stay for The Mountain Top UU (http://www.themountaintopuu.org) and UUs for Racial Justice (http://uurj.themountaintopuu.org) caucus conversations. In these spaces we will host extended check-ins with opportunities for deeper dialogue, shared learning, and community building.
Our Common Table
If you are joining us in-person in Denver, we invite you to our monthly Our Common Table Potluck and Crafts time together before our Community Celebration. This is more than a meal, It’s an act of spiritual ingathering, celebration, and radical hospitality. In addition to this nourishing our bodies we will nourish our souls with time for fellowship and arts & crafts. Bring what you can and receive what you will, a favorite dish or desert, as well as a story, and your imagination, all are welcome at our table.
Children’s Play
Children attending in-person are welcome to join. They are provided fun activities to help them engage and participate during the service. If you have any questions or would like to discuss how we can best support your child during our time together, please reach out to Denard B.

More About our 3rd Sunday TMT/UURJ Community Celebration
Our 3rd Sunday Community Celebration is a time to be spiritually rejuvenated and renewed in the midst of the month. We will offer BIPOC centered and led inspiration, reflection, and a deep sense of connection. Through music, word, and shared wisdom, we will gather to nourish our spirits and strengthen our commitment to racial justice and collective liberation.
NOTE: Following the service, all are invited to stay for The Mountain Top UU and UUs for Racial Justice caucus conversations, providing space for deeper dialogue, shared learning, and community building. Come as you are—your voice, your presence, and your spirit are needed and welcome.
